Acclimation

Most aquarium fish are hardy, but they still need slow acclimation to avoid stress and shock. When your fish arrives, float the bag for about 15–20 minutes to match temperature, then slowly add small amounts of tank water into the bag over 30–45 minutes. This helps them adjust to differences in pH, hardness, and temperature. Keep the lights off during acclimation and avoid feeding right away. In our experience, rushing acclimation is one of the easiest ways to lose an otherwise healthy fish—slow and calm always works better.
